Readers of the week- Barron and Paityn

Barron and Paityn are our last readers of the week!! Thank you for helping make this successful! Paityn read That's Good! That's Bad! She did such a great job! She likes this book because Santa's pants split when we sits down! Ha!
Barron read Pete the Cat, Pete's BIG Lunch. This is a very popular series with beginning readers and Barron always loved reading Pete the Cat books. He likes this book because Pete makes a huge sandwhich and has to share with his friends.
Today was a special day because we had our Christmas party! Thank you to everyone who helped out and made it a success!! We were also visited by a very special guest.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Reader of the week- Landon

This week Landon was the reader of the week and he read a new book that no one in the class (including me) has read before, Jeremy Draws a Monster. This is a super cute book about a little boy who draws a monster, then has to draw everything that the monster asks for. Landon did a GREAT job!

Big Buddies- December

We were so excited to see our Big Buddies today! We made cards for soldiers who can't be with their families this Christmas. The kids worked so hard to write encouraging notes and beautiful pictures.

Readers of the week- Kaleigh and Spencer

This week Kaleigh read The Crayon Box That Talked. She did such a great job! I had never heard of this book before so I was so excited to hear her read it. The class loved of of course! Their favorite part was when she showed the very last page. It was a picture that all the crayons worked together to color!
Spencer rad Fly Guy and the Frankenfly. Several studies have chosen this series to read to the class. It is definitely one of the more popular series in first grade.

Contraction Surgery

Look out! There are some new surgeons in town! We have enjoyed learning about contractions this week! Today we "performed surgery" to make two words into a contraction. We glued the two words together and cut out the letter that no longer belonged. We put a bandaid where the apostrophe goes in the contraction. Prepping for surgery was very intersting.
