Read Across America Week

This week is Read Across America Week in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday! Did you know that Dr. Seuss's real name was actually Theodor Seuss Geisel? I learned that from listening to KLOVE this week! On Tuesday, we got to visit with our Big Buddies. After reading The Cat in the Hat, they helped us complete sentences about reading on Dr. Seuss hats.

We also read a less popular Dr. Seuss book, Bartholomew and Oobleck. If you haven't read it, I would highly recommend that you do! In the story, oobleck falls from the sky after the king complains about the weather.
After we finished reading, the class got to play with oobleck! The cool thing about oobleck is that it acts like a liquid and a solid. You can slowly dip your hand into it and it will act like a liquid. But when you punch or squeeze it, it feels solid.

On Wednesday, students dressed up like their favorite book character.

 Elsas from Frozen
Nancy Clancy, Rapunzel, Elsa, and Pinkilicious
Thing 1 and Cat in the Hat
A Ninja Turtle, A Minion, and Pirate Pete

Junie B Jones and Happy Birthday, Bad Kitty

We have had such a great week and we still have two days left!
Thank you so much for making my birthday so special! I really appreciate all the cards, emails, gifts, desserts, and flowers.
