I absolutely love getting to celebrate Thanksgiving with my first graders! This week we did tons of Thanksgiving themed writing. We read the book Turkey Trouble, a hilarious book about a turkey who dresses up as a pizza delivery guy so he wouldn't get eaten on Thanksgiving.
The students wrote about how they would disguise themselves if they were a turkey on Thanksgiving.
We also have been learning about different features of nonfiction texts. One of the features is lists. So everyone made a list of eight things they would bring with them on the Mayflower.
