Candy Pumpkin Experiment

Last week the class had a great time doing our first experiment! Everyone was so excited to use a new tool, the beaker! Each beaker had a different liquid in it (water, milk, oil, and vinegar). The students predicted whether the candy would sink or float in each liquid. Then they found out if their predictions were correct and recorded what happened. Next we learned that "dissolve" means to disappear. We watch how the pumpkins dissolved differently in each liquid. After observing and talking about what was happening, I took out the candy and the students drew what the candy looked like. The kids' favorite part was getting to eat the left over candy of course!
